Doug Menuez talks at TEDx about photographing Steve Jobs and the Geeks of the 80s and 90s – The Beginning of Modern Tech Success

I’m taking a small break today from writing about my wonderful adventures in Todos Santos Mexico to talk about a great photographer. Doug Menuez is a friend, mentor and genius humanitarian.

One of Doug’s recent projects is a photo book on how 20 Ugandan AIDS orphans have come to be a incredible dance touring group that pays for health care, food and schools for the rest of the 700 AIDS orphans back home. The book is called “Transcendent Spirit: The Orphans of Uganda.”

Fearless Genius

Below is a link to Doug’s inspiring and humorous TEDxSF talk from a few years ago about some of his life as a photographer and how he went from shooting the world tragedies in Ethiopia and Sudan, leper colonies in the Amazon and the AIDS crisis, before it even had a name, to shooting the tech wizards of the 80s and 90s, including one particular innovator, Steve Jobs.

The project is called Fearless Genius. It’s a great way to spend 20 minutes. Very inspiring.
